Bears QB Caleb Williams off to a much better start in Week 2

HOUSTON — Caleb Williams’ second game started much better than his first.

The rookie quarterback went 5-for-5 for 55 yards on his first drive Sunday night against the Texans and the Bears kicked a 53-yard field goal to tie the game.

To drive the Bears 52 yards, Williams converted two third downs, as many as the Bears did during the entire Titans game. The first was a 14-yard dart to DeAndre Carter on the right sideline on third-and-12, and the second was a 19-yard slant pass to DJ Moore on third-and-two. The drive ended when Williams was sacked by Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter, the Texans’ two star edge rushers, on third-and-nine from the Houston 25.

The Bears were counting on Williams to be much-improved from his NFL debut, when he went 14-for-29 for 93 yards and a 55.7 passer rating. Williams ran five times for 15 yards in the opener, too.
