He called it a “huge mistake” that spent taxpayer dollars on “really crazy stuff.” But the first-term Ohio senator and Republican vice-presidential nominee has still sought more than $200 million in funding through the law. That's according to records reviewed by The Associated Press. Vance is hardly alone among Republicans who condemned Democratic-led spending enacted only to benefit from money for popular projects. But the harsh terms he used to attack a bipartisan achievement during the Biden administration stand out as Vance has become a national figure whose words carry more weight.
