NATIONAL SUMMARY

Showers will stretch from southern Canada through the

Northeast and into the southern Appalachians today.

Afternoon thunderstorms will dot the southern Texas coast

and the Florida Peninsula. It will remain warm and

uncomfortably humid across the Southeast. To the north and

west, cooler and less humid air will move into the middle

Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes states and the Midwest.

In the northern Plains and western Midwest, a gusty breeze

combined with dry conditions may lead to an enhanced fire

danger. In the central Plains, after a brief reprieve from

the heat, warmth will return. Elsewhere, record-breaking

heat will continue across Arizona and California. Along the

Southern California coast, areas of fog will start the day.

The Northwest will be cool and sunny.
