That's according to tech executives, elected officials and intelligence analysts. They say America's adversaries will likely try to spread claims about voting irregularities or insecure election systems while the ballots are still being counted. An especially close election or delays in announcing the winner could heighten the risk even more as voters go online to share their opinion and check the news. Something similar happened after the 2020 election, when false claims about vote rigging circulated and helped spur the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
