NTSB report says student pilot, instructor and 2 passengers killed in Sept. 8 plane crash in Vermont
A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board says the small plane that crashed near an airport in Ferrisburgh on Sept. 8 was on an instructional flight when it went down, killing the student pilot, the instructor and two passengers. The report says a witness recorded a video of the four-seat, single-engine Piper as it departed from the Basin Harbor Airport and rolled down the runway. But it did not capture its takeoff. The report says the plane crashed in a wooded area about 375 feet (114 meters) east of the end of a runway. The victims were all from Connecticut.
