NATIONAL SUMMARY
Hurricane Milton will continue to spread heavy rain that can
cause urban flooding from the Tampa Bay region northeast to
Jacksonville today. Strong winds are also expected across
the Florida Peninsula, and these can knock down power lines
and trees. Widespread, long-lasting power outages are
expected across central Florida. From Melbourne, Florida, up
the coast to Wilmington, North Carolina, there can still be
storm surge from persistent onshore winds. By the evening,
Milton will have moved offshore, and the heaviest rain will
have tapered to showers and thunderstorms. The Northeast can
be breezy at times, and showers are expected to end early in
the region. In the Southwest, extreme heat with high
temperatures 5-15 degrees Fahrenheit above historical
