Young Dubliners, Cohoes Music Hall

On their website, the Young Dubliners call themselves "quite possibly Celtic rock's hardest working band," but they like to let people know that, proud as they are of the Irish heritage some of the ensemble's past and present members claim, it's not all tin whistles and fiddle-dee-dee. Keith Roberts, lead singer for the band, says their sound "was always intended to be a hybrid because we all come from different backgrounds. Even though two of us are from Ireland, a lot of the music we listened to growing up wasn't Irish at all." The group, which formed in Los Angeles in 1988, has toured widely and frequently and gained a reputation for high-energy shows that feature a mix of original songs and Irish folk songs with a rock twist.
