White Sox' ballpark has new name: Rate Field

The White Sox’ ballpark is getting a new name.

Starting in 2025, Guaranteed Rate Field will be known as Rate Field, the Sox announced Tuesday on social media. The change reflects a shortening of the stadium sponsor’s name; “Guaranteed” was dropped in July.

The venue was first called Comiskey Park when it opened in 1991, then changed to U.S. Cellular Field with a naming rights deal in 2003. After the 2016 season, the Sox struck a deal with Guaranteed Rate for a reported $2 million per season.

Twenty-two major-league stadiums are named for corporate sponsors. The Astros’ stadium is also changing names next season, from Minute Maid Park to Daikin Park.
