Chicago police officers fatally shoot knife-wielding man in Little Village apartment

Chicago police officers fatally shot a knife-wielding man early Friday inside a Little Village apartment on the West Side.

Around 2:10 a.m.,Ogden District officers responding to calls of a person with a knife inside a sixth floor apartment in the 3000 block of West 21st Place were confronted by a man with a knife while knocking on the apartment door, police said.

The man charged at officers and they fired their weapons, striking the man multiple times, according to police.

The unidentified man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he later died, officials said. Two officers were hospitalized for observation.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability were responding to the shooting.

The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days.
