Woman charged with murder in 1-year-old girl’s death in Humboldt Park
A woman has been charged with murder in connection with a 1-year-old girl’s death last month inside their Humboldt Park home.
The girl, identified as Lucia Vazquez, died of asphyxiation and assault around 9 a.m. Dec. 20 at her home in the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Marisol Vazquez, 37, was arrested Thursday in the 2200 block of West Division Street, police said.
She faces one felony count of first-degree murder and is due in court Saturday afternoon.
