Honduras seeks arrest of ex-President Hernández after Trump pardon

Honduras Attorney General Johel Zelaya has ordered authorities and asked Interpol to execute a 2023 arrest order for ex-President Juan Orlando Hernández. Hernández was pardoned by U.S. President Donald Trump and released from federal prison in the United States last week. He had been sentenced to 45 years for helping move cocaine to the U.S. Zelaya shared a photo of the order, signed by a Supreme Court magistrate, for alleged fraud and money laundering. Hernández's wife had said he was in an undisclosed location for safety. Trump said Hondurans requested the pardon, believing Hernández was treated unfairly by prosecutors.
