Denmark sees talks with the US as a chance for 'the dialogue that is needed' over Greenland

Denmark has welcomed a meeting with the U.S. next week to discuss the Trump administration's renewed interest in acquiring Greenland. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen on Thursday confirmed the talks, requested by Denmark and Greenland. “This is the dialogue that is needed, as requested by the government together with the Greenlandic government,” Poulsen told Danish broadcaster DR. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the meeting but gave no details. U.S. Vice President JD Vance has criticized Denmark's handling of Greenland's security, emphasizing its strategic importance. The leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the U.K. have defending the sovereignty of Greenland, which is part of NATO.
