Collins, Mills take different tacks on ICE's sweeping enforcement action in Maine

Maine’s leading Republican and Democratic officials are taking different approaches to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s sweeping ongoing action in the state. Democratic Gov. Janet Mills and Republican Sen. Susan Collins could face each other in a high profile Senate race this year. Mills has challenged federal immigration officials to provide warrants, real-time arrest numbers and basic information this week about who is being detained in the enforcement operation in her state. Friday, she called for Congress to cut ICE’s funding. Collins said people who are in the country legally should not be the target of ICE investigations. She also also called on demonstrators not to interfere with enforcement actions.
