Striking nurses at 2 NYC hospital systems approve new contract but ones at another reject deal

Nurses on strike at two major New York City hospital systems have approved new contracts, but ones striking at another system have rejected a proposal to bring an end to the monthlong walkout. The nurses’ union said Wednesday its members at Montefiore and Mount Sinai have approved new three-year deals but that ones at NewYork Presbyterian have rejected them. Mount Sinai’s CEO said its nurses will begin reporting back to work Saturday. NewYork Presbyterian said it was disappointed its nurses did not ratify a mediator’s proposal. The union has said the proposed deals would provide pay raises of more than 12%, among other priorities.
