Mexico sends second aid package to Cuba as US tightens energy blockade
Mexico has sent a second humanitarian aid package to Cuba as the island struggles with fuel shortages and tighter U.S. pressure. On Tuesday, two navy ships left the port of Veracruz, Mexico, with more than a thousand tons of food supplies. One ship carries mostly beans and powdered milk and the other beans and other donated food items. They are expected to arrive on Saturday. Cuba depends on imported oil and produces only part of its own needs. Cuba relied heavily on oil shipments from Venezuela that stopped after the U.S. attacked the South American country in early January and arrested its leader.
