The Latest: Tense US-Iran talks in Geneva as Trump deploys warships and aircraft to the Middle East

Iran and the United States are holding a third round of nuclear talks in Geneva as Washington sends airships and warships to the Middle East to underscore the U.S. demand that Iran stop enriching uranium. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is set to meet with Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, on Thursday for talks mediated by Oman. The U.S. wants Iran to accept limits on its nuclear program and long-range missiles, but Iran says it wants keep enriching uranium even after a U.S. attack last June left key facilities in ruins. Iran has warned it can target U.S. bases in the region if threatened and also threatens Israel. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Iran keeps trying to rebuild its program.
