World shares are mixed and US futures slip after Nvidia earnings beat expectations
European shares have opened higher after a day of mixed trading in Asia. U.S. futures were little changed following a better-than-expected earnings report from chipmaker Nvidia, which helped ease some investor fears over the boom in artificial intelligence. Japan’s Nikkei 225 surpassed the 59,000 level for the first time on Thursday and South Korea's Kospi extended its rally after it passed the 6,000 mark earlier this week. On Wednesday, the S&P 500 gained 0.8%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.6%, and the Nasdaq composite rose 1.3%. Nvidia's results came after markets closed on Wednesday.
