Sri Lanka recovers 87 bodies from Iranian warship sunk off its coast by a US submarine
Sri Lanka’s navy has recovered 87 bodies and rescued 32 people after an Iranian warship was sunk by a U.S. submarine in international waters near the island. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday at a Pentagon news briefing it was the first sinking of an enemy ship with a torpedo by the U.S. since World War II. Sri Lanka's foreign minister told Parliament the navy got an alert that the ship was in distress. A navy spokesman said crews found oil patches and life rafts, but no ship.
