White House chief of staff Susie Wiles has breast cancer but will keep working through treatment

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer but plans to continue working through her treatment, retaining her place as one of President Donald Trump’s closest aides. The 68-year-old Wiles announced Monday she'd been diagnosed over the previous week. Wiles is the first woman to hold her position. Wiles sat alongside Trump at a meeting of the Kennedy Center board of trustees Monday. Trump describes Wiles as “one of the strongest people” he knows and says her prognosis is “excellent.” Wiles' diagnosis comes as the Republican president confronts mounting challenges on global and national fronts. Wiles led Trump's 2016 effort in Florida.
