Florida man executed for killing a young mom who had frantically called 911 seeking help
A Florida man has been executed for the murder of a young mother who frantically called 911 for help while she was tied up in her attacker's car. Fifty-four-year-old Michael Lee King received a lethal injection Tuesday evening at Florida State Prison. He was convicted of the 2008 rape and killing of 21-year-old Denise Amber Lee, whose two young sons were left at home alone when she was kidnapped from her residence. Though tied up, the woman managed to get King's phone and frantically called 911. But communications failures and other issues kept help from being sent. Florida lawmakers later passed the Denise Amber Lee Act to provide better training to 911 operators.
