For kidney patients, the biggest change may be coming in the form of Holly, a surgically implanted artificial kidney designed to filter blood continuously without hospital dialysis sessions. Developed by Atlanta-based medical device company Nephrodite and already being manufactured in India, the device received a US FDA breakthrough designation in 2025 and is headed for human trials.
