Truck driver’s family denied claim by United Insurance after he suffered cardiac arrest following meal during trip; court orders Rs 16 lakh compensation

The Uttarakhand High Court has upheld compensation of around Rs 16 lakh, including interest, for the family of truck driver Kamal Singh, who died of cardiac arrest after having a meal while driving from Uttar Pradesh to Jharkhand. The court found the activity sufficiently connected to his employment and held that eating was necessary during prolonged driving duties.
