Anthrax has been confirmed in a resident of Atyrau
Tengrinews.kz – 17 people who came into contact with an animal infected with anthrax have been placed under observation in Atyrau. One market worker was confirmed to have the cutaneous form of the disease.
The individuals were monitored after anthrax was detected in a deceased animal at a slaughterhouse of the "AsylAgro" farm (the livestock market) in Atyrau.
It was reported that laboratory tests confirmed the diagnosis of cutaneous anthrax in one of the workers at the slaughterhouse.
"The patient has been hospitalized and is undergoing treatment according to the approved medical protocol. His condition is stable. No symptoms of the disease were found in the other contacts," said the press service of the Akimat (regional government) of Atyrau region.
The department noted that, in accordance with sanitary and veterinary regulations, measures to localize the infection and prevent its spread are continuing.
"Vaccination of livestock in the quarantine zone has been completed, and sanitary treatment is ongoing. Four control posts have been set up at entry points to check documents, the condition of animals, and perform temperature checks. Similar measures have been implemented at slaughterhouses in Atyrau. Transportation and slaughter without documents are prohibited," the Atyrau regional administration reported.
It is worth reminding that earlier, in Atyrau region, a cow brought to the livestock market died from anthrax, as it was later determined. On November 20, a quarantine was imposed at the livestock market, and the slaughterhouse was temporarily closed.
