Up to 6.5 million tenge: Kazakhstan reminded about payments to schoolchildren

Tengrinews.kz — Kazakh school students can receive more than 6 million tenge for winning an international academic olympiad. Education Minister Zhuldyz Suleimenova has reminded the public of the prize amounts.
Kazakhstan has had a system of cash rewards for winners of international intellectual competitions since 2022. According to the Ministry of Education, the one-time payment depends on the medal received:

for a gold medal — up to 1,500 MCI, or 6,487,500 tenge in 2026;
for a silver medal — up to 1,000 MCI, or 4,325,000 tenge in 2026;
for a bronze medal — up to 500 MCI, or 2,162,500 tenge in 2026.

State support is provided not only to school students but also to the teachers who prepared olympiad winners.
Speaking at a government meeting today, the minister said that in the 2025/2026 academic year, Kazakh school students took part in 44 international olympiads and science competitions, winning 1,059 medals and 57 special awards.
