Traffic fines will increase in 2027 – the amounts are known

Tengrinews.kz — Traffic fines in Kazakhstan are set to increase in 2027. This is due to the expected rise in the monthly calculation index (MCI), as outlined in the draft national budget for 2027–2029.
MCI and fines to increase
The monthly calculation index (MCI) is an amount set by the state each year and used to calculate fines, taxes, benefits and other payments.
The draft budget for 2027 proposes setting the MCI at 4,693 tenge. It currently stands at 4,325 tenge. As a result, amounts tied to the MCI, including traffic fines, will also increase.
However, it is important to note that the proposed MCI amount is not final. The figure is currently part of a draft budget that is undergoing public discussion. The document will then be submitted to the Kurultai, where deputies may introduce amendments.
The final budget parameters will be known after the law is adopted and signed by the President.
Speeding
The amount of the fine depends on how much the driver exceeds the speed limit. Next year, fines could change as follows:

exceeding the speed limit by 10–20 kilometers per hour — 5 MCI: from 21,625 tenge in 2026 to 23,465 tenge in 2027;by 20–40 kilometers per hour — 10 MCI: from 43,250 to 46,930 tenge, respectively;by more than 40 kilometers per hour — 20 MCI: from 86,500 to 93,860 tenge, respectively;a repeat offense within one year — 30 MCI: from 129,750 to 140,790 tenge, respectively.

Driving without a license
Driving without a driver’s license carries a fine of 5 MCI. In 2026, this amounts to 21,625 tenge, while in 2027 it would rise to 23,465 tenge.
Failure to follow road signs or markings
Violating road sign or road marking requirements carries a fine of 3 MCI. The amount could increase from 12,975 to 14,079 tenge.
Running a red light
Driving through a red traffic light carries a fine of 10 MCI. In 2026, this amounts to 43,250 tenge, while in 2027 it would rise to 46,930 tenge.
For a repeat offense, the fine increases to 15 MCI. In 2026, this is 64,875 tenge, and in 2027 it would be 70,395 tenge.
Driving on pedestrian paths
Driving a vehicle on pedestrian paths carries a fine of 15 MCI. In 2027, the amount could rise from 64,875 to 70,395 tenge.
Improper parking
Different parking violations carry the following fines:

improper parking — 5 MCI: 21,625 tenge in 2026 and 23,465 tenge in 2027;parking on a sidewalk — 10 MCI: 43,250 and 46,930 tenge, respectively;failure to pay for parking — 3 MCI: 12,975 and 14,079 tenge, respectively.

Failure to stop at a police officer’s request
Failing to comply with a police officer’s order to stop carries a fine of 40 MCI. In 2027, the fine could amount to 187,720 tenge, up from the current 173,000 tenge. A repeat offense may result in the loss of driving privileges and administrative detention for up to five days.
Drivers who have already been disqualified from driving face a fine of 60 MCI:

2026 — 259,500 tenge;2027 — 281,580 tenge.

Seat belts, phone use and passenger transport
Violations of passenger transport rules, failure to wear a seat belt and using a phone while driving carry a fine of 5 MCI:

2026 — 21,625 tenge;2027 — 23,465 tenge.

Traffic violations by pedestrians
Pedestrians face a fine of 2 MCI for violating traffic rules. Accordingly, the amount would rise from 8,650 to 9,386 tenge.
For a repeat offense, the fine is 10 MCI:

2026 — 43,250 tenge;2027 — 46,930 tenge.
