New flights and oil field: what Tokayev and the Sultan of Oman discussed
Tengrinews.kz — On October 6 in Astana, President Tokayev held narrow-format talks with the Sultan of Oman, who arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit.
Welcoming the distinguished guest, the President called the first visit by an Omani leader to Kazakhstan a historic event.
“Your Majesty, it is a great honor and pleasure for me to welcome you on a state visit to Kazakhstan — the first visit by the Sultan of Oman to our country in history. I am convinced that this visit is of historic significance, as you are opening a new chapter in the multifaceted cooperation between our countries, which needs to be intensified and brought to a new level. As we have already noted, there is enormous potential for mutual cooperation that needs to be unlocked and fully realized,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
He also stressed that he would make every effort to ensure that Kazakhstan becomes a reliable partner for Oman.
President Tokayev noted that Oman enjoys great respect in Kazakhstan.
“Today, many of our citizens visit your beautiful country. At the same time, many Kazakhstanis have not yet been to Muscat and other cities in Oman. Naturally, with the launch of additional direct commercial flights between our countries, our citizens will travel to your country much more actively. I have also been informed that, as part of your visit, an important agreement concerning the Dunga oil field was signed. I believe this is further evidence of our mutual interest and readiness to move forward, as well as a symbol of our joint progress,” the President of Kazakhstan said.
The Sultan of Oman thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the hospitality extended to him. He noted that over the past three decades, relations between the two countries had indeed advanced and strengthened significantly.

“Our visit today is intended to consolidate the results achieved and take bilateral relations to a new level. During the visit, we will sign several agreements and memorandums of understanding. I am confident that with your support, we will be able to build very strong ties in the economic, political, cultural and humanitarian spheres. We would like to see more citizens of Oman visiting Kazakhstan and more citizens of Kazakhstan traveling to Oman. Allow me once again, Mr. President, to thank you for your hospitality. I also hope to see you in Muscat in the very near future,” Haitham bin Tariq Al Said emphasized.
