In Kazakhstan, payments for loss of work capacity and loss of breadwinner will be increased
Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan plans to increase social benefit payments for disability and loss of breadwinner. The Ministry of Labor has posted the corresponding draft order on the "Open NPA" portal.
By how much will payments increase?
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population has prepared a draft government resolution "On increasing the amounts of social security payments from the State Social Insurance Fund".
According to the document, social benefit payments from the SSIF for disability and loss of breadwinner are planned to increase by 8.5 percent starting January 1, 2027.
The ministry noted that the measure is aimed at improving the level of social protection for recipients. The draft resolution has been published for public discussion until November 2.
Current payment rates
As of January 1, 2026, the average social benefit for disability is 72,409 tenge, and for loss of breadwinner – 73,306 tenge.
Earlier, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated that wealthy Kazakhstani citizens should not receive state assistance in the form of social benefits.
"We are finally moving toward a principle based on need rather than which category a person belongs to. From January 1 of next year, this principle will be fully operational. For example, today a large family receives the same state support measures whether they are rich or poor. In our view, this is unfair. Wealthy, affluent people who are able to provide for themselves should not receive assistance from the state," the Prime Minister stated.
