Snow, blizzards and gusty winds: Kazhydromet issues storm warnings

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has issued storm warnings for Astana and several regions for Tuesday, October 20. Strong gusty winds, rain and snow, icy conditions, fog and dust storms are forecast in a number of areas.

In the capital, southwesterly winds shifting to northwesterly are expected, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second.

In Akmola Region, rain and snow are possible at night, with precipitation expected in the north and east during the day. Fog and icy conditions are forecast in the west and north. Southwesterly winds will shift to northwesterly, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second and at times 23–28 meters per second in the north and east. In Kokshetau, northwesterly winds of 15–20 meters per second are expected, with gusts of up to 23 meters per second.

In Aktobe Region, northerly and northeasterly winds are expected, with gusts of 15–18 meters per second in the north and east. High fire risk remains in the east, while extreme fire risk persists in the west, south and center.

High fire risk also remains in Atyrau Region, with extreme fire risk in the north, south and east.

In East Kazakhstan Region, rain and snow are expected during the day in the east and mountainous areas. Fog is possible at night and in the morning in the south, east and center. Southeasterly winds will shift to northwesterly, with nighttime gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the north. During the day, winds of 15–20 meters per second are expected, with gusts of 23–28 meters per second in the west, north and south. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, southeasterly winds shifting to northwesterly will gust to 15–20 meters per second and at times up to 25 meters per second during the day.

Fog is expected at night and in the morning in mountainous areas of Zhambyl Region. Northeasterly winds will reach 15–20 meters per second in the mountains. Overnight frost of 2 degrees below zero is expected in the west and east.

In West Kazakhstan Region, northeasterly winds are forecast, with daytime gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the north, west and south. High fire risk remains in the west, south and east.

In Karaganda Region, rain and snow with icy conditions are expected in the north and east in the morning and during the day. Fog is possible at night and in the morning in the north and south. Southwesterly winds will shift to northwesterly, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second and at times up to 23 meters per second in the north, east and south. Extreme fire risk remains in the west. In Karaganda, rain and snow with icy conditions are expected in the morning and during the first half of the day. Southwesterly winds shifting to northwesterly will gust to 15–20 meters per second in the morning and during the day.

In Kostanay Region, rain and snow with icy conditions are forecast at night in the east. Fog is possible at night and in the morning in the west, north and east. Northwesterly winds will gust to 15–20 meters per second at night and to 15–20 meters per second in the north and east during the day. High fire risk remains in the south. In Kostanay, northwesterly winds are expected, with nighttime gusts of 15–20 meters per second.

In Kyzylorda Region, a dust storm is expected during the day in the west, north and center. Northerly winds will gust to 15–20 meters per second in those areas. Ground frost of 2 degrees below zero is expected overnight in the east. Extreme fire risk remains across the region, with high fire risk in the north.

High fire risk also remains in the center of Mangystau Region.

In Abai Region, rain and snow are expected at night in the west and north, with precipitation forecast during the day in the north, east and center. Fog is possible at night and in the morning in the south and east. Southerly winds will shift to northwesterly, with nighttime gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the west, north and center. During the day, winds of 15–20 meters per second are expected, with gusts of 23–28 meters per second in the north, southwest and center. In Semey, southerly winds shifting to northwesterly will gust to 15–20 meters per second and at times up to 25 meters per second during the day.

In Zhetysu Region, northeasterly winds are expected, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second and at times 23–28 meters per second in the Alakol Lakes area. Overnight frost of 2–7 degrees below zero is forecast. In Taldykorgan, nighttime frost of 3–5 degrees below zero is expected.

In Ulytau Region, southwesterly winds will shift to northeasterly, with gusts of 15–20 meters per second in the west, north and east in the morning and during the day. Extreme fire risk remains in the west and center. In Zhezkazgan, southwesterly winds shifting to northeasterly are forecast, with daytime gusts of 15–18 meters per second.

In Pavlodar Region, rain and snow are possible, with heavy precipitation and icy conditions expected in the north and east during the day. Northwesterly winds will reach 15–20 meters per second, with daytime gusts of 23–28 meters per second in the west, south and center. In Pavlodar, rain and snow are forecast, with northwesterly winds of 15–20 meters per second and daytime gusts of 23–28 meters per second.

In North Kazakhstan Region, rain and snow, icy conditions and drifting snow are forecast at night, with the same conditions expected during the day in the west, north and east. Fog is possible in mountainous areas of Turkestan Region. Northeasterly winds will reach 15–20 meters per second in the north and mountainous areas. High fire risk is expected in the north and west.
