Walls and bridges
In his continuing effort to help the world’s refugees, Pope Francis found himself at odds with American Republican presidential aspirant Donald Trump, who has declared that if he gets elected, he will build a wall along the entire 1,954-mile (3,145-km) border between the United States and Mexico. Trump had called for such a wall to keep out the many undocumented migrants from all over South America who seek to enter the US via Mexico. He had specially caustic remarks about Mexicans trying to enter the US illegally, many of whom, he said, were rapists, drug runners, and other criminals. Pope Francis was on the last day of his visit to Mexico when he was asked about Trump and his plan for a wall to keep out immigrants.
