There’s hope for colorectal cancer patients

Semilla At first glance, Pia Kasunuran Guerrero looks in the pink of health.  Not skinny or stout, she has a ready smile that flashes a sunny disposition in life. Only two years ago, she was diagnosed with colorectal (or colon) cancer. “There were no symptoms indicating that I had colorectal cancer,” Guerrero, 42, told Manila Bulletin as she started sharing her story after delivering her testimonial in “Bituka: Facts and Fiction,” a lay forum organized by Getz Healthcare and ConvaTec. The event was held Friday in Manila, to observe National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. “As far as my parents can remember, I am the only one in both sides of the family who has acquired the disease,” Guerrero said.
