Aquino appeals against ‘round two of martial law’

President Aquino appealed to the people not to allow a “round two of martial law” in an administration rally in Digos City. “Thirty years ago, we risked our lives to fight for our freedom and on May 9, we will return to the situation of a possible round two? Who among us wants a round two of martial law?” Aquino said as he expressed concern that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is a dictator in the making and could endanger the gains of democracy in the country. “If we take a left turn from the straight path or take a U-turn back to the old crooked ways, back to martial law, what do you think will happen next?” he added, recalling the dark period of martial law when  human rights abuses were committed under the administration of then President Ferdinand  Marcos.
