Miriam vows to end corruption

Feisty presidential candidate Miriam Defensor Santiago has vowed to end corruption if she becomes the next president of the country. “I will end the culture of corruption in this country,” Santiago said in her speech at the Gapan City gymnasium in Nueva Ecija last Wednesday. Santiago recalled that in her government stint, she was able to rid government agencies of corruption. Santiago was a Ramon Magsaysay awardee for government service in 1988 for her “bold and moral leadership in cleaning up a graft-ridden government agency,” the then Commission of Immigration and Deportation.
