Does anyone care?
Children walk along a trash-strewn coastal area in Cebu City looking for possible found objects that they might be able to sell for something. Yesterday was June 8, Ocean Day but here in Cebu no one seems to care, as evinced by this polluted body of water shown in the photo. World Oceans Day was first introduced in 1992 to raise awareness about the crucial role that the sea plays in man’s life, particularly in providing him with food and oxygen. (Juan Carlo de Vela)
