Letter: More on 'The War'

The recent misguided and intemperate attack on me by Jack Bass (Post and Courier, June 20) actually, and inadvertently, made exactly the point I made in my original op-ed. That is, that slavery, and its defense, played a large part in the secession of the South and the formation of the Confederacy, but not in the war on the South.
