51 cops reshuffled

Fifty-one policemen from the Central Visayas region were reassigned to the Cordilleras and Mindanao as part of the disciplinary measures of the Philippine National Police (PNP) against its personnel suspected to be involved in illegal drugs. The relief order and reassignment of eight middle-ranking policemen and 43 Non-Commissioned Officers (from the rank of Police Officer 1 to Senior Police Officer 4) came from the Directorate for Records and Management main office at Camp Crame, a source said.  “The reassignment is effective August 17. Apparently, this is part of the cleansing effort in our organization,” the source said. The officers have the rank of Chief Inspector to Superintendent (equivalent to major and lieutenant colonel in the military respectively). The relief order and reassignment, according to the source, came after both intelligence reports and verification revealed that the 51 cops were engaged either in the recycling of shabu or through protection racket [...]
