Hartsville senator's presence at '79 USC shooting shapes approach to gun hearings

COLUMBIA — The chairman of the Statehouse panel that will look at reforming the state’s gun laws said it’s difficult to describe what it was like 40 years ago when he saw a gunman shoot and kill two people at a party at the University of South Carolina.
