Brazil's central bank stands pat on key interest rate

Brazil's central bank left unchanged Wednesday its benchmark interest rate as Latin America's largest economy remained mired in recession.

The central bank kept the key Selic rate at 14.25 percent, where it has been pegged for a year as the flailing economy struggles with high inflation and falling commodity prices.
