Heavy rains to hit Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet forecasters have released the weather forecast for May 19, 20, and 21.

Heavy rains to sweep across Kazakhstan

According to the forecast, an anticyclone ridge will maintain warm, clear weather in northern, eastern, and central Kazakhstan at the start of the period. Meanwhile, western and southern regions will be influenced by a southern cyclone, bringing rain with thunderstorms, squally winds, and potential hail.

Heavy rains are expected on May 19 and 21 in the Kyzylorda and Turkestan regions, and from May 19 to 21 in the Zhambyl region. On May 20-21, a northern cyclone will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and squalls to northern and eastern Kazakhstan.

Temperature outlook

Initially, temperatures across Kazakhstan will remain largely unchanged, with highs reaching 27-35°C in the west and south, and 20-28°C in the east.

However, by May 21, daytime temperatures are expected to drop to 10-18°C in the Kostanay, Akmola, and North Kazakhstan regions, and to 15-23°C in the center of the country.

Summer 2026 outlook for Kazakhstan

Earlier, forecasters released an advisory weather outlook for the summer of 2026 in Kazakhstan. According to their data, the season is expected to bring a combination of hot spells, brief showers, thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds.
