Foreign woman detained at Almaty airport with two bags of marijuana in her luggage
Tengrinews.kz - A foreign national was detained at Almaty airport with 21 kilograms of marijuana, with reference to the National Security Committee (NSC) press service.
On May 30, the NSC, in cooperation with police, customs, and the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre, intercepted an attempt to smuggle narcotics at Almaty airport.
"During a luggage inspection of a foreign citizen arriving from a southeast Asian country, approximately 21 kilograms of marijuana was discovered. The prohibited cargo was seized, and the suspect has been detained," the NSC statement said.
Police have launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code.

In accordance with Article 201 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, no further information is subject to disclosure.
