President of Kazakhstan: Much criticism is directed at the UN, but there is no alternative

Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that while criticism of the United Nations is largely justified, there remains no alternative to the UN in the world today. The Head of State called for strengthening the organization's effectiveness and emphasized its pivotal role in the international system, citing Akorda.
According to the President, the large-scale political and economic reforms implemented in Kazakhstan in recent years serve as a response to modern global challenges.

"The new Constitution, which came into force on July 1, has laid a solid foundation for Kazakhstan's sustainable development. Its provisions have established a qualitatively new system of government. These transformations aim to strengthen socio-economic stability and build a Just and Progressive Kazakhstan. A new legislative body, the unicameral Kurultai, has begun its work," Tokayev announced at the SCO Plus summit.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked his colleagues for their congratulations on the successful implementation of reforms and the holding of elections to the Kurultai.
He also reaffirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to a balanced, constructive, and peaceful foreign policy course.
The President then shared his vision for further improving the operations of the United Nations.

"The UN faces considerable criticism. While this criticism is at least partially justified, it does not change the main point: there is no alternative to this Organization. Our collective task is to strengthen it and enhance its efficiency. Close cooperation between the UN and regional formats, including, of course, the SCO, serves this goal. Kazakhstan believes the United Nations must remain the core of the international system, and its Charter the universal foundation of international law," the President emphasized.

Previously, In his speech, Tokayev highlighted a shared strategic task — the formation of a world order in which the cult of force and confrontation gives way to mutual responsibility, joint development, and long-term cooperation.
