About 2 thousand pedestrians injured in road accidents in Almaty since the beginning of the year

Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan is currently holding a "Pedestrian" safety awareness campaign. In Almaty, nearly 2,000 traffic accidents involving pedestrians have been recorded since the beginning of the year, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As part of the campaign, police officers have stepped up enforcement of traffic regulations. Particular attention is being paid to drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.
Preventative measures are also being implemented in schools. Police are conducting educational briefings with children regarding traffic safety rules and distributing reflective gear.

"Road safety depends on every participant in traffic. Drivers must be especially vigilant when approaching crosswalks, while pedestrians must follow the rules and cross only in designated areas," concluded Abdinur Tasybayev, Head of the Administrative Police Department of the Almaty Police Department.

It is worth noting that collisions with pedestrians remain the most common type of traffic accident. From January to August, the country recorded 7,831 such incidents. In these accidents, 7,908 people were injured, and another 290 were killed.
According to the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records of the Prosecutor General's Office, a total of 21,394 traffic accidents have been registered in Kazakhstan since the start of the year. In these incidents, 28,939 people sustained injuries, and 1,230 lost their lives.
