Forecasters changed their minds: Almaty remains without snow, while Astana expects rain

Tengrinews.kz — Meteorologists have updated the weekend forecast: Almaty will see neither rain nor snow, while a light rain is expected in Astana on Monday, October 26. Kazhydromet has adjusted the weather forecast for the two cities for October 24–26.

Changes to the Almaty Forecast

Previously, forecasters had predicted rain, snow, and fog in Almaty for October 24. According to the updated forecast, Saturday in Almaty will be partly cloudy and dry. Nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to −2…−4°C, while daytime highs will reach +4…+6°C. Winds will be northeasterly at 3–8 meters per second.

On Sunday, October 25, no precipitation is expected either. Nighttime temperatures will drop to −5…−7°C, with daytime highs of +5…+7°C. Winds will remain northeasterly at 3–8 meters per second.

On Monday, October 26, dry weather will persist in Almaty. Forecasters predict −3…−5°C at night and +8…+10°C during the day. Winds will shift to the east at 3–8 meters per second.

In Astana, On October 24, is expected to be partly cloudy with no precipitation. The temperature will be −5…−7°C at night and +2…+4°C during the day. Winds will be southwesterly at 2–7 meters per second at night and 5–10 meters per second during the day.

On Sunday, October 25, no precipitation is forecast. Nighttime temperatures will be −3…−5°C, with daytime highs of +6…+8°C. Winds will be southwesterly at 7–12 meters per second.

Sharp weather shift expected in Kazakhstan

Forecasters previously warned of sharp temperature contrasts across Kazakhstan from October 24–26. Snow and blizzards are expected in the east and southeast, with nighttime temperatures in eastern mountainous regions potentially dropping to −18°C. Meanwhile, daytime temperatures in the west of the country could reach +18°C.
