Asel Zhanasova appointed Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Transport
Tengrinews.kz — Asel Zhanasova has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport.
By decree of the Head of State, Asel Zhubanyshevna Zhanasova has been named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, following her relief from her previous position.
She previously served as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
According to the Kurultai press service, Asel Zhanasova's candidacy for the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport was approved today during a meeting of the Kurultai Committee on Regional and Infrastructural Development.
On November 3, President Tokayev issued a decree relieving Nurlan Sauranbayev of his duties as Minister of Transport..
As a reminder, during his State of the Nation Address on October 28, the President criticized the quality of Kazakhstan's roads. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered that high-quality construction be ensured for all highways — both national and local.
"Citing regulations and protocols, executive bodies at the central and local levels have engaged in a game of 'political football' — kicking the issue around and doing everything possible to let the problem sink into an impenetrable swamp," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated previously.
The Head of State ordered that responsibility for all roads in the country — including national highways and local roads currently managed by regional administrations (akimats) — be transferred to the government, specifically the Ministry of Transport..
