309m Rivers fund: Wike reveals MIND-BLOWING reason APC is allegedly shielding Amaechi from prosecution
- Wike claims Amaechi used part of the $309 million proceeds of the Rivers State Gas Turbine sale to fund the APC
- He reiterated that the money recovered from the apartment in Ikoyi belonged to Rivers state
- The governor challenged the presidential panel set up to investigate the matter to release the report of their finding
Former governor of Rivers state Chibuike Amaechi has been accused of misappropriating the state’s funds by his successor Governor Nyesom Wike.
Wike stated that the current minister of transportation used part of the $309 million proceeds of the Rivers State Gas Turbine to fund the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor said this while speaking on a programme on Channels Television in Lagos, on Tuesday June 20.

According to Wike, Amaechi cannot account for billions of naira belonging to Rivers state.
He also claimed the APC-led government was protecting Amaechi from prosecution because he financed the party during the 2015 elections.
He stated: “No despotic leader in the world had ever shut down courts. Amaechi entered the Guinness book of records for this notorious act of denying people access to justice.
“Amaechi used part of the $309 million proceeds of the Rivers State Gas Turbine sale to fund the APC, which is why the party rallies around him to shield him from prosecution in spite of his several indictments.”
The governor also spoke about his claim that the money found in an Ikoyi apartment belonged to Rivers state, saying: “The presidential panel has not invited us to substantiate our ownership of the Ikoyi billions and hasn’t released the report as well.
“So, we are waiting for that before taking our next steps.
“Let the panel release the report of their findings on the money.
“We have claimed ownership of the money and it is only right for us to be given a fair hearing.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Nigeria’s minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi threatened to expose the wife of his successor Nyesom Wike.
A visibly angry Amaechi spoke on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, saying if Wike “does not shut up his mouth”, he would expose Eberechi Wike.
Amaechi’s threat was a reaction to the allegation leveled against his wife Ruth by Wike that each commissioner and local government chairman in Rivers state paid her N3 million and N2 million monthly respectively.
