Did the Queen deliberately wear a hat resembling the EU flag during her speech?
Theresa May had her first Queen's speech this morning, and while policies and manifesto pledges were top of the agenda some viewers were more focussed on the Queen's colourful look.
Forgoing the usual robes and heavy crown, today marked the first Queen's speech in 43 years that saw Her Royal Highness arrive without her royal dress.
But while many rumours surfaced regarding the reason for such a drastic dress change, there was a much simpler reason behind it. And it's all down to Theresa May.
Due to May's snap election, the date for the State Opening of Parliament was set for only a few days after the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday meaning there was not enough time for sufficient rehearsal if today were to go ahead as a usual grand presentation.
But despite the reasonable explanation, the Queen's lack of crown was not the end of the sartorial discussion during her speech this morning.
Choosing to wear a blue and yellow hat for the occasion, Twitter was awash with suggestions that Her Royal Highness was paying a particularly sneaky tribute to the EU flag.

And with the speech including no fewer than eight bills regarding Britain's withdrawal from the EU, we'd imagine the hats connotations were not lost on the Queen as she got ready this morning.
