Johnny Depp Heading To J.C. Chandor's 'Triple Frontier,' Tom Hanks Offered Role, Will Smith Moves On

Sometimes, there is a script so good, that matter the delays or bumps in the road, everyone wants to be a part of it. And that has been the case for "Triple Frontier." A project that was long brewing as a film for Kathryn Bigelow, at one time actors Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Sean Penn, Will Smith, Javier Bardem and Christian Bale were all in the mix for various roles. The Bigelow iteration of the movie never came together, and she has since moved on to focus on her developing Bowe Bergdahl movie, but last summer "A Most Violent Year" and "All Is Lost" director J.C. Chandor signed up, and Hanks and Smith were both said to be circling. Instead, another actor has become the first A-list name to get seriously involved.

Variety reports that Johnny Depp is in early talks for the thriller. Penned by Mark Boal ("Zero Dark Thirty"),  the story that takes place in the notorious, titular border zone between Paraguay, Argentina...
