Four arrested in Lavender Hill

Four suspects have been arrested in Lavender Hill in Cape Town, says the City’s Safety and Security directorate.

Cape Town - Four suspects have been arrested, all in Lavender Hill on the Cape Flats, the City’s Safety and Security directorate said on Thursday.

Three of those suspects were arrested on Tuesday after police found a Glock pistol buried in a yard.

“The firearm will be sent for ballistic tests to determine if it can be linked to other crimes,” said the directorate’s Janine Willemans.

The most recent of the arrests took place following a tip-off from a member of the public. The information led Metro Police officers to an address in Montagu Village, Lavender Hill on Wednesday.

“Officers found 2 206 mandrax tablets with an approximate street value of just more than R80 000 hidden in a speaker box,” said Willemans.

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested, bringing the City’s number of drug possession arrests to eight in the last three days.
