Former PDP Deputy Chairman Shocks Party, Moves To APC

Idris Jimoh, the former deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state, has reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Daily Sun reports that a source close to Jimoh disclosed that he was leaving the PDP with several of his supporters and the defection ceremony would take place soon.

No reason was given for his defection in a letter dated January 5 and addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Obeiba Ward One in Okehi local government area.

There is speculation however, that it may be connected with how his ambition to contest the state chairman in September last year was frustrated by prominent figures in the party.

There are reports that Jimoh might get a prominent appointment in the incoming administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello who is his kinsman from the central axis of the state.

In October 2014 Jimoh resigned to contest elective offices in the 2015 general elections. He resigned alongside Secretary Emma Egwu.

Members of the PDP and other rival parties have been defecting en masse to the ruling APC. In some states, the reverse is the case as some have been defecting to the PDP.

Three days ago, for the PDP.
