JUST IN: PDP Reacts To Metuh’s Trial
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the recent arrest and trial of its publicity secretary, Olisah Metuh, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is an attempt by All Progressive Congress (APC) to silent opposition parties in Nigeria.
PDP director on New Media, Deji adeyanju
Speaking exclusively with Naij.com on Thursday, January 21, the PDP director on New Media, Deji Adeyanju stated that the current war against corruption by the President Muhammadu Buhari lead government is only aimed at distracting Nigerians from the real issues.
Adeyanju described Metuh’s arrival in court on Wednesday, January 20, as “barbaric,” adding that it would not deter members of the party from speaking up against what he termed “plans by the APC to destroy this country.”

He advised that the federal government should focus on the real issues affecting Nigeria.
He said: “These are people who do not value the sacrifices that have been made for this democracy. They do not value the role of an opposition in a democracy. They do not have respect for the rule of law.
“Olisah Metuh is not a terrorist so why bring him to court in handcuffs? He is a senior lawyer at that. Where will he run to? By his status in the country, in any part of the world, you cant put handcuff on a man like Metuh, you cant.”
“Metuh has been very vocal in criticizing the government. They feel that if we see Metuh on handcuff, we will become afraid, we will be cowed and there after soft peddle. But we wont soft peddle, we wont stop what we are doing.”

“This government is despotic and it does not mean well for Nigerians. They have no plan for the country. They just want to be shouting corruption for the next four years to distract Nigerians from the real issues.”
“Today, a dollar is N206, and a pound is N408. These are the real issues not victimizing or trying to kill opposition. Olisah Metuh is the image maker of our party so if you attack him, you attack the PDP.”
“The president Muhammadu Buhari led government has sworn that they must crush PDP and Metuh’ case is one of such attempts. Thank God that the international community is watching. A day will come when Nigerians will hold the responsible for all that are doing to this country,” he added.
