Goodluck Jonathan reacts to PDP senators visit, tasks them on nation building

The media was awash this morning with photos of senators under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paying a courtesy visit on former President Goodluck Jonathan. 

Senators like Ben Murray-Bruce, Stella Oduah, Sam Egwu, Enyinnaya Abaribe,  Gershom Bassey and Fatima Raji-Rasaki were among those who were in the delegation.

Former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan was also on hand to receive the senators as she posed with them as photojournalists clicked away.

Immediately, after photos of the visit went viral, speculations on the mission of the senators became a hot topic among commentators online.

The visit is coming barely one week after Senator Abaribe, who was part of the delegation made comments in the Senate suggesting President Muhammadu Buhari should be impeached. 

“It is time to go for the President’s jugular,” Abaribe reportedly said during an executive session of the Nigerian Senate. The Senate has since denied the allegation.

While speculations are still rife on the aim of the meeting, Jonathan took to his twitter page few hours ago to thank the senators for visiting him earlier.

Former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih had warned members of the party in the National Assembly not to contemplate unseating President  Buhari from office, stressing that it will be a huge set back for the country.

Jonathan has largely stayed out of active politics since he lost the 2015 presidential elections to President Buhari.

He recently debunked certain media reports suggesting that he would re-contest for president in the 2019.
